Irish Water contractors only got as far as starting their first hole in the Llewellyn estate in Ballinteer today before protesters shut them down. And from 8am till 4pm their mini-digger was blockaded by residents of the estate and activists from the surrounding area. At 4pm the digger was loaded on a trailer before getting the now traditional slow-march out of the estate. Despite the rain, wind and cold the spirits of the anti-Water Tax protesters were kept high with cups of tea and support from the residents.
Local network of activists from the area will be on the ground again in the morning from 8am resisting the installation of water meters. Everyone is welcome to join us on the protest, together we can win.
